Splendour of the Seas - History

The second unit in the six ship Vision class. Splendour and her sister ship, the Legend of the Seas, are the greyhounds of the Royal Caribbean fleet. Designed for speed, they are actually smaller than even the Sovereign class. To accomedate her speed demands, the engines are much closer to the center of the ship. The result of this, is that the Viking Crown Lounge contains the ships exhast stack, unlike the other four units in the class. The Vision class also introduced a single dinning room concept to the newest ships in the fleet. Rather than two identical rooms isolated on seperate decks, you have a single room, with a large open space overlooking the Captains table and main floor, spread over two decks. This would evolve into three decks on the Voyager class.
The Vision class also introduced mini-golf to Royal Caribbean ships. As originally equiped, Splendour was equiped with four tender boats, with a capacity of 140 each. They also functioned as lifeboats.

Splendour and her sister can be recognized by the fact that both ships lack a dedicated exhast stack. This is due to the internal arrangement of engines and such. Look for the Royal Caribbean logo to be incorperated into the Viking Crown Lounge amidships, along with the stack.

Dinning room is named "King & I Dinning Room" (decks 4 and 5.)
The theater is named "42nd Street Theatre."
