A 14 year old girl required her appendix be removed while on the Princess cruise lines Dawn Princess. The USS Ronald Regan, a Nimitz class aircraft carrier, was 550 miles away, steamed to meet the ship. They took her off the ship by helicopter to the carrier, where she had successful surgery. Her mother was flown to the ship a few days later, and the pair came home to San Diego a few days ago.

Nice to have those ships around now and then! The video I've seen show her being buried in teddy bears and such from the crew.

That's a great story. I think sometimes people only hear the bad stuff that happens on a cruise ship not the fantastic things they do.
