Devils on The Deep Blue Sea. A great read, covering the personalities and events which surrounded the rise of the modern cruise industry. Not an orthodox history of the industry, this book takes you on a ride through events many know about, but have never known in the context the many personal anecdotes and stories create. A must-read for fans of cruise travel. I'm in the process of reading it for a third time. You get the feeling of how small the world of cruise travel really is, as you read through this book. -NWLB
Under Crown and Anchor. Commissioned by Royal Caribbean, in advance of its 25 anniversary in 1995. Written by noted maritime historians John Maxtone-Graham and Bard Kolltveit, it is a fine primer for anybody wanting a knowledge of cruise travels history. The touches on trans-Atlantic travel, the emergence of excursion cruises, and the evolution of the modern industry following the rise of commercial jet travel. The book continues to detail the development of Royal Caribbean through 1995. Fascinating and informative, it is the bible for fans of Royal Caribbean International. This book only rarely comes up on eBay, but if it does, its worth fighting for. The book won't be reprinted, and its a unique look into Royal Caribbean. -NWLB
